Project consisted of gutting the interior, and renovating the exterior of an existing two story brick structure. A new exterior vestibule was added and the old exterior brick was stabilized and cleaned. The 6000sf interior was built out with an all new contemporary tenant finish design for Dr. Hansen's orthodontist office.
Design Objective:
Located in the historic district of downtown Lee's Summit, Missouri the existing structure was built at the turn of the 20th century and spent its early years as a Saw Mill. The design objective was to highlight the best features of the existing structure, by setting these in contrast to new architectural design elements. The heavy timber structure is juxtaposed against the round soffits and ceilings painted in bold primary colors. The existing brick walls are left exposed and stand out against the chair dividers of translucent plastic and anodized aluminum mesh internally lit by color changing LED lights. The overall effect provides a contemporary feel that goes along with Dr. Hansen's up-to-date technology while preserving the historic value of the building.
